Obituary

Myrna Sue Wolfe , 85, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Paddock Springs Assisted Living in Warsaw.

She was born on January 9, 1939, at St Joseph Memorial Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana, a daughter of the late Morris E. and Betty Lou (Collins) Gift.  The family moved to various areas of Indiana during her childhood, settling in Columbia City, where she graduated from Columbia City High School in 1956.

She was a homemaker and later earned a Real Estate License.

On August 8, 1970, she married Thomas Ray Wolfe and joined him in his real estate business.  They have always made their home in Columbia City.  Tom died on July 3, 2014.

She enjoyed golf with her husband and, with her endearing quality, always put family first.  In her senior years, she was a regular at BINGO at the Warsaw American Legion.  She liked the TV series Gunsmoke and watched it faithfully.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 98 auxiliary, Columbia City, and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Columbia City Eagles Club.

Surviving are her children, Jerry (Carolyn) Gruver of Pierceton, Rita (Bill) Griffith of Warsaw, Portia (Jerry) Davis of Warsaw, and Theresa (Edward) Dollier of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandy Grim of Florida and Marthene (Richard) Phend of Cleveland, OH and a half-sister, Lynn Daily of London, OH.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Ellison.

The funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with visitation from 9 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.  Burial is beside her husband at the Thorn Cemetery at Ormas.

Memorials in Myrna's honor are to the Humane Society of Whitley County.
