Patricia Mae Greer, 62, of Columbia City, died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home at 12:06 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024.

She was born on May 18, 1962, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a daughter of the late Donald F. and Janice M. (Galloway) Waikel.  Growing up in the Wolf Lake area, she completed Wolf Lake School and graduated from Central Noble High School in 1981.

On July 2, 1983, she married Jay B. Greer.  They made their first home at Bear Lake for about 20 years, then moved to Wawaka.  In 2013, they moved to Columbia City.  Jay died on May 20, 2020.

She had worked for Silgan Plastics in Ligonier for about seven years and then Tenneco in Ligonier for five years. She also worked for the Quality Inn in Columbia City for over six years.

She was a member of VFW Post 5582, Columbia City, and American Legion Post 98. She enjoyed playing BINGO, poker, and most board games. She also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and mushroom hunting.

Her greatest joy in life was raising her children. When the grandkids came along, they became her pride and focus. She always maintained a place in her heart for animals, making donations to organizations that support that mission.

She is survived by her two children, Jackie (Aaron) Nagy of Fort Wayne and David Greer of Albion; grandchildren, Mathew Hontz, Ember Wingard, Nathan Wingard, and Silas Greer; and sisters, Janelle Kelley of Fort Wayne and Alica (Rick) Sherman of Columbia City.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Waikel.

There will be no services.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
