Obituary

Randall Ray Cunningham, 66, of Columbia City, died peacefully, in the company of his wife at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at The Waters, Columbia City.

Born on November 7, 1956, in Goshen, Indiana, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rosemary (Hoke) Cunningham.  Growing up in Goshen, he graduated from Goshen High School.  He continued his education studying electronics.

After completing his schooling, he located in North Webster working various electronics jobs.  He moved to Warsaw for several years, before meeting and eventually marrying Cindy Lea Herman on December 7, 1996.  The couple made their home in Whitley County and for the past 15 years, Columbia City.

Becoming a maintenance mechanic, he worked for Maple Leaf Farms and then Whispering Springs before retiring.

A coffee connoisseur, he liked to roast his own coffee beans.  He enjoyed playing golf and when at home, foosball.  With his lighthearted attitude he often used the French phrase 'c'est la vie' – (such is life) or quipped the Paul Harvey upbeat phrase 'Good Day'.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; their daughter, Randi Cunningham of Columbia City, his children, Christopher (Melissa) Cunningham of North Webster, Brooke (Dustin) Martin of Clemmons, NC, Bethany (Dustin) Wolfe of Warsaw and Jordan (Mindy) Cunningham of Stanford, IL; step-children, Landon (Chelsie) Lawrence of Columbia City, Stephen "Nathan" Lawrence of Columbia City and Sheldon Lawrence of South Whitley; 16 grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Deb) Cunningham of Wakarusa, and a sister, Cindy (Mike) Philley of Goshen.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Cunningham.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Troy Presbyterian Cemetery, 6490 West Lincolnway, Columbia City.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home Columbia City.
