Randall Roy Striggle, 77, of South Whitley, died unexpectedly at 9:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2022 at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was taken by EMS earlier that day.
Born on January 10, 1945, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late William A. and Joan M. (Miller) Striggle. Growing up in South Whitley, he graduated from South Whitley High School in 1963. He continued his education at the Miles Bennett School for Intertype-Lithotype.
On July 5, 1964, he married the love of his life, Linda Jean Judd. They have always made their home in South Whitley.
He embarked on his career in the printing business with the Roanoke Print shop until he was recruited by the Warsaw Times Union to work in their print shop. In 1964, he was lured from the newspaper and began working at Stumps Printing in his hometown of South Whitley. He retired from Stumps/Shindigz in 2007 with 43 years of service. In 1994, he and his wife purchased the Uptown Marathon gas and convenience store in South Whitley running it for 11 years. In 2001, the couple and their son, Scott purchased the Green Parrot bar and grill running it until 2013.
In the warmer months, Randy enjoyed golf and participated in the South Whitley League. Annually, he made a fishing trip to Canada with his buddies. In his younger years, he coached the local Little League Baseball including the traveling team. In his retirement years, he liked woodworking, building various furniture pieces or just relaxing outdoors in his favorite chair.
He was a member of the South Whitley Kiwanis Club and the Eel River Masonic Lodge.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Linda; children Scott R. (Jackie) Striggle of South Whitley and Shelli R. Blue of Roanoke; grandchildren, Austin Striggle, Breanna Teauge, Ellyana, Eyan & Evyn Blue, and Benjamin Shanks; great-grandchildren, Brantlee Striggle, Kendon Striggle and Rylynn Wood; and a sister, Cindi Baumgardner of Syracuse.
The funeral service is 3 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley with Rev. J.P. Freeman the officiant. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Cleveland Twp. Volunteer Fire Department or the American Heart Association.
