Raymond Eugene Slusher , of Pierceton, passed away at 11:44 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born on November 3, 1945, in Warsaw, Indiana, he was a son of the late James B. and Emma Belle (Elder) Slusher. Growing up in Pierceton, he graduated from Pierceton High School in 1964.
On July 1, 1966, he married Betty L. Yorg. They have always made their home in Pierceton.
A career-long truck driver, Raymond drove over-the-road for several different carriers. After retiring from trucking, he became a school bus driver for Whitko Community Schools. Additionally, he drove the team bus for the girls' basketball and volleyball teams. Not only did he provide safe transportation, but he cheered on the team he transported.
At home, he was an avid NASCAR racing fan. He followed the Indianapolis Colts and was a big collegiate sports fan, primarily watching the games of the IU Hoosiers.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Betty; children, Amy (Victor) Cole of Statesville, NC, Angela Gorman of Cicero, and Matthew (Beth) Slusher of South Whitley; and six grandchildren.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by brothers Dick, John, and Rex Slusher and a sister, Barb Sylvester.
A memorial gathering is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Harvest Community Church, 512 S Seventh St, Pierceton, IN 46562.
