Rebecca Kaye Simmers, 84, of Columbia City, died peacefully at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Miller's at Oak Pointe, where she had been a resident for the past year.

Born on October 6, 1941, in Whitley County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Willodean (Barnhart) Ward.  Growing up in Larwill, she graduated from Larwill High School in 1959.

On December 28, 1963, she married Daniel "Les" Simmers. They made their home in Larwill, later moving to rural Columbia City, where they raised three boys.  Les died on March 6, 2016.

In addition to being a homemaker, Rebecca worked in the office of Precision Plastics and later became the office manager at E&B Paving.  She finished her work career at Passages in Columbia City as an assembler.

Always family-centered, she hosted the family gatherings and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking every opportunity to be with them.  She will be missed by all.

Surviving are her sons, Bradley Simmers of Larwill, Vincent (Vicki) Simmers of Churubusco, and Todd Simmers of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter and caretaker, Janessa Anderson of Pierceton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, Terry (Kathy) Ward of Columbia City, Michael (Eddie) Ward of Florida, and Thomas (Sheila) Ward of Indiana.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ward.

Keeping with Rebecca's wishes, there will be no services.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
