Renee Lynn Thomas, 75, of rural Pierceton, passed away peacefully in the company of family at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at her home.

She was born on October 5, 1948, in Marion, Indiana, a daughter of the late Cleo and Arletta (Willis) Thomas.  She grew up in Whitley County, completing Etna-Troy School and attending Columbia City Joint High School.

On September 1, 1989, she married David L. Thomas.  They made their home in Churubusco and Columbia City. For the past five years, they have lived in rural Pierceton.

She expressed her love through cooking and serving others, which she did in many restaurants before she became co-owner of Oliverz restaurant in Columbia City. She retired in 2011.

She loved having family get-togethers and spending time with her family.  She had a love for music and also liked to crochet, fish, and work in her garden, growing flowers and vegetables.  She also enjoyed antiquing and she never turned down a chance to hit the casinos.

Surviving is her husband, David; children, Jodie (Harold) Brown of Columbia City, Julie (Jon) McCormick of Avilla, Charity Myers of Columbia City, and Angella (Dean) Oliver of Churubusco; a stepson, Toby (Michelle) Thomas of Pierceton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gretta Guisinger of Phoenix, AZ.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Allen McCormick and a brother, Terry Thomas.

A Celebration of Renee's Life will be held from 1 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7th, at Smith and Sons Coachroom, 205 N Main St., Columbia City.
