Richard Henry "Dick" Dalton, 85, of Columbia City, died peacefully at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at his home.

Born December 3, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son of the late Winston S. and Walburga (Petersen) Dalton. He attended Irving elementary school and he graduated from Morton East High School in 1953.

On June 19, 1962 he married Janet M. Lulling.  They made their home in the Chicago area, moving to Columbia City over 20 years ago.

He began his work career as a truck part salesman firstly at Hendrickson and then at Cherry's Trucking.

Richard enjoyed golf and fishing and also crossword puzzles and telling jokes. He also attended the Elks Lodge.

He found the Lord later in life and was joyously baptized April 3, 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Richard P. (Linda) Dalton of Downers Grove, IL, Michael J. (Denise Rochon) Dalton of Ottsego, MI, Steven G. (Sheila) Dalton of Naperville, IL and Philip D. (Lisa) Dalton of East Northport, NY; grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Eli, Colin, Sean and Parker; great grandchild, Kiera.

He was preceded in death by brothers, James & Thomas and a sister, Dorothy.

The funeral service will be at 12 Noon Monday at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S. Line Street, Columbia City.  Burial is at the Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 10am to the service at the Church.
