Richard Allen Holt, 52, of South Whitley, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

He was born December 28, 1968, in Elkhart, Indiana, a son of Terry L. and Virginia S. (Schwartz) Holt.  He completed elementary school at Harley Holben Elementary, Elkhart and attended Jimtown High School.  He later completed his GED and took auto body courses at Ivy Tech.

On April 24, 1993, he married Rebecca Lynn Ashley.  For 28 years they have made their home in South Whitley.

For many years he worked for Steve Reiff, Inc. as a painter.  He then became a CNC operator for Busche in Albion.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and ice fishing.  During the deer hunting season, he was an accomplished bow hunter.  A NASCAR fan, he liked watching the races cheering for the Earnhardt's team.  An Indianapolis Colts fan, he showed his support by often wearing a team jersey throughout the year.  He appreciated time with family and is remembered always for making it a good time.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, children, Lora M. Diseveria of Elkhart, Derek W. Matteson and Hope R. (Josh) Williams both of South Whitley, grandsons, Brandon T. Leufling, Camden R. Matteson and Jordan W. Matteson; a sister, Paula Holt of Elkhart; step-sisters, Deborah Mattix, Mary Lilley, Rebecca Lilley, and Libby Hamilton, all of Elkhart; and a step-brother, Richie Lilley of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Sue Lilley and step-father, Richard Lilley, Sr.

A gathering of family and friends is 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
