Rodney Dale Boggess, 70, of Wolf Lake, died at 1:04 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, where he was admitted on Monday.
Born June 26, 1951, in Sandyville, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Clifford and Virginia (Dunham) Boggess. Growing up in Sandyville, he attended Sandyville High School.
On September 26, 1986, he married Carol A. Burton. They made their first home in Columbia City, later moving to Wolf Lake.
He worked for Dekko in Merriam until their closure. He then went to work as a maintenance mechanic for North Ridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation in Albion until his retirement in 2013.
Keeping busy around his home, he enjoyed woodworking of all types, from building shelving and cabinets to houses and other woodcrafts. He liked to fish and hunt, and when the grandchildren came along, spending time with them.
Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Carol; children Jaimaca N. Boggess of Wolf Lake and Jake W.V. (Ashley) Boggess of Ligonier, grandchildren, Rebecca Boggess and Elizabeth Boggess; siblings, Irene June Hill of PA, Carolyn (Dick) Love, Linda Compton, Helen (Jack) Watkins all of Ohio, and David Boggess of WV.
He was preceded in death by brothers Cecil, Charles, Roger, and Clifton Boggess; and sisters Lura Stout, Sue Hamrick, and Sandra Barres.
There will be no services. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
