Roland James "Rolly" Stellhorn , 94, of Tri-Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at his home.

Born August 19, 1931, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late Carl William Stellhorn and Laura Anna (Nicole) Stellhorn.  Growing up in Fort Wayne, he graduated from Central High School in 1949.  He continued his education at Butler University in Indianapolis, where he earned a bachelor's degree in music and later earned a Master's Degree.

Meeting Ruth A. Myers, a fellow music major at Butler, he married her on May 3, 1953.  They made their home in Plymouth until 1960, then moved to Fort Wayne, raising four children.  In 1970, the couple moved to Tri-Lakes.  Ruth died on January 27, 2018.

Passionate about music, Roland dedicated over 30 years to teaching instrumental music at the Fort Wayne Community Schools. An accomplished musician, he played saxophone, clarinet, and flute with local bands, captivating audiences.  His greatest joy was performing for children, especially his grandkids, hopefully inspiring a future generation of musicians through his love of music.

Living at the lake, he enjoyed water sports and boating with the grandkids.  He delighted in playing golf and participated in some area leagues.

Surviving are his four children, Jeffrey (Cindy) Stellhorn of Carmel, Susan Barnes of Kentucky, Leslie Thorne of Indianapolis, and Douglas (Missy) Stellhorn of Jerseyville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Zoller of Columbia Station, OH.

Roland desired no services.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City.
