Obituary

Ronald Kent Shaneyfelt, 72, of rural Albion, died unexpectedly at 10:40 a.m. December 25, 2022, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance.

Born on March 1, 1951, in Huntington, Indiana, he was a son of the late Russell W. and Mildred (Homier) Shaneyfelt. Growing up in Huntington, he graduated from Huntington North High School in 1969. He continued his education at International Business College, Fort Wayne.

He moved to rural Albion and worked at PTG Columbia City for 20 years. While working at PTG, he met and eventually married Shannon Lee Almond on August 28, 1999.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially IU Basketball, New York Giants', or Colt's football, often so absorbed in the game that he was unaware of anything else. In his younger years, he participated in bowling leagues, and more recently, he liked working on crossword puzzles.

Surviving is his wife of 23 years, Shannon; daughter Shania Shaneyfelt of Albion; step-daughter Raven (Richard) Lamb of Fort Wayne; and three sisters, Evelyn Austin of Auburn, Beverly (Monte) Burnworth of West Liberty, OH, and Josephine (Earl) Clore of Huntington.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by brothers William, Robert, and Richard Shaneyfelt; and a sister Maxine Garrettson.

The funeral service is 4 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with visitation from 2 p.m. until the service.
