Ronald served with the Indiana National Guard until his discharge in February of 1959.

On March 8, 1952, he married Nelda J. Nolt.  They made their home in Jefferson Twp., raising four children.  In 1976, they purchased the family farm nearby and made that their home.  The love of his life and lifetime partner, Nelda, died on June 14, 2024.

He was a dedicated husband and father, and family was always his priority.  He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.  An IU Basketball fan, he followed the Hoosiers through their season.  He liked to spend time in the woods, and when he had the opportunity, he liked to fish.
