Ryan Eugene Chapman, 47, died Sunday, July 24, 2022, in Montcalm County, Michigan as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Born on November 23, 1974, in Columbia City, Indiana, he was a son of Donald and Phyllis J. (Maloney) Chapman.  He began his education at Wolf Lake elementary school, and graduated from Central Noble High School in 1993.

Ryan was a CNC machinist by trade.

Athletic and adventurous, he enjoyed sports including baseball, football, and softball.  He participated in the men's softball league as well as the mixed teams.  He like to canoe and kayak the area lakes where he also liked to fish.  In season he would hunt deer and in his younger years' rabbits. He delighted in riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and during the winter months, snowmobiles were a suitable substitute.

He grew up attending the Wolf Lake Baptist Church and Awana Church Camp.

Surviving are his parents, Donald and Phyllis Chapman of Columbia City; two sisters, Lisa (Tony Duehmig) Chapman and their children Kyle and Kelsie Duehmig of Avilla and Mary Jo (Brent Lelonek) Cochran of Payne, Ohio; a niece and nephew in law, Madison (Cochran) Jackson and Tyler Jackson of Fort Wayne; nephew, Cameron Cochran of Fort Wayne; girlfriend, Kate Shelley of Michigan and his beloved dogs, Mayhem and Judah.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.   Burial will be at the Thorn Cemetery.  A gathering of friends and family will take place from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
