Obituary

Samuel Schwartz , 75, of Cleveland Township, Whitley County, died Tuesday morning, October 3, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, from injuries he received in a farm equipment accident a day earlier.

Sam was born June 30, 1948, in New Haven, IN, a son of the late David and Anna (Miller) Schwartz.  He married Amelia Wittmer on November 13, 1969. They have made their home in Cleveland Twp. since 1973. Amelia died on March 11, 2021.

Surviving are six sons, Aaron (Kanoshia) Schwartz of South Whitley, Benjamin (Amanda) Schwartz of Grabill, Dennis (Wilma) Schwartz and Martin (Clara) Schwartz of South Whitley, Samuel Jr. (Delila) Schwartz of Quincy, MI; and Steven (Margaret) Schwartz of South Whitley, and 46 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and siblings, John Henry (Margaret) Schwartz, Clara (Jesse) Graber, Michael (Margaret) Schwartz, Rosa (Jonas) Zehr, Sarah (Edwin) Schmucker, Amos (Emma) Schwartz, Mary (Jacob) Miller, Anna (Jacob) Schwartz, Susan (Joe) Steury, and David (Bernice) Schwartz, Jr.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Louis E. Schwartz, a brother, Reuben Schwartz, and a sister, Rosa Zehr.

Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 4th, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Schwartz residence 10370 S State Road 105, South Whitley. The funeral service is 9 a.m. Saturday at the Schwartz residence with burial at the Cleveland Twp. Amish Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
