Obituary

Sharon Lee Johnson, 78 , of Fort Wayne, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 7:34 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2021, at her home.

She was born June 24, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a daughter of the late Earl R. and Iva B. (Uran) Moser. Growing up in the New Haven area, she graduated from New Haven High School.

On June 26, 1965, she married Max Wayne Johnson. They made their first home in Columbia City, moving to Fort Wayne in 1968. Max died on December 3, 2019.

She worked for International Harvester, Fort Wayne, until the plant's closure in 1983.  She then went to work for GTE, Fort Wayne, until her retirement in 2002.

In her younger years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. In her retirement years, she knitted hats and scarfs for the Kids Closet, which donates to those in need. She also enjoyed cross-stitch. Remaining active in retirement, she bowled in the lady's league and met her friends monthly for dinner out. Remembered as a great cook, she prepared delicious meals and baked goods.

She is survived by two children, Dawn (Billy) Solis and Christopher Johnson, both of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Michael Alcox, Churubusco, Ross Johnson, Austin Solis, and Leah Solis, all of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Kevin Alcox of Fort Wayne, Alexander Alcox, Gabriel Alcox, and Aiyanna Alcox, all of Churubusco; three brothers, Norman (Jane) Moser of Lima, OH, Ralph M. Moser of New Haven and Edward (Lisa) Moser of Fort Wayne.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a son, Dean E. Johnson.

The funeral service will be 6 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Nolt Cemetery.
