Shirley A. Lamboley , 84, of rural Columbia City, died peacefully at her home at 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Born in Jefferson Twp., Whitley County, Indiana on November 5, 1939, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Fayma June (Allendar) Pequignot. Growing up on a farm in Jefferson Twp., she graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1957.
On April 19, 1958, she married Eugene F. Lamboley beginning their 51-year life together raising two children. They have always made their home in Jefferson Twp. Gene died on March 27, 2010.
In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for Lincoln Life in Fort Wayne for eight years. In 1985, she became the bookkeeper for Mansdorfer Brothers Marathon. She completed her work at Sears Catalog Center in Fort Wayne where she worked from 1992 until 1996.
Always active, she liked to mow the grass and tend to flowers that adorned her property. She always enjoyed a good card game, especially gin rummy. In her senior years, she often toured around her neighborhood on a golf cart or kept her mind sharp with a word search puzzle.
Surviving are her children, Douglas (Connie Severt) Lamboley of Columbia City and Shelli A. (Tracey) Smith of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Meghan A. (Andrew) Frazier of Fort Wayne; a great-grandson, Houlden Frazier; a brother, James Pequignot of Columbia City; and a sister, Carol Hyser of Roanoke.
Additionally, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannie Parker; a granddaughter, Bethany Lamboley; and a grandson, Garrett Lamboley.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Arcola. A private family entombment will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
Memorials in Shirley's honor are to Stillwater Hospice or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
