Steven Allen Alvey, 67, of Columbia City, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Majestic Care West Allen, Columbia City.

Born on August 6, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the only child of the late Donald E and Helen L. (Barron) Alvey.  Growing up in the Coesse area, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1976.

He started his work career at Hilger's Market as a farm-hand.  Eventually becoming a diesel mechanic he worked for Aaron Arnold Truck Garage, Fort Wayne until he became disabled.

On August 19, 2022, he married Susan Meyers.  The couple made their home at Silver Birch assisted living in Fort Wayne

A man of faith, Steve followed his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He enjoyed cooking and coloring books.  During football season, he followed the Green Bay Packers.  Through the years, he liked collecting coins and more recently became a fan of the television series M.A.S.H.

Surviving is his wife, Susan.

The funeral service is 12 noon on Friday, April 12th at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  Burial is at the Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.  Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Steve's honor are to the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
