Steven T. Leiter, 47, of Columbia City, died peacefully at his home with family at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023.

Born on November 8, 1975, in Naples, Florida, he was the son of Thomas E. and Linda K. (Simmons) Leiter.

He attended Warsaw Community Schools. In 2008 he was diagnosed with a rare form of mitochondrial disease.

Steven enjoyed watching game shows and soccer on television.  He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Linda; sister, Angela R. (Doug Brown) Stahl of Huntington, nieces, Katie and Megan Stahl; aunts, Karen Simmons Johnson and Carol Simmons Gigli both of Fort Wayne, and Kathy Simmons (Joe) Williamson of Columbia City; uncles, Allan (Naomi Hovenden) Simmons and John Leiter, both of Columbia City and Mike Leiter of Naples, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Doris Leiter and Joe and Helen Simmons; uncle Steven Simmons and aunt, Sharon Leiter.

Steven's funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday May 13, 2023, with visitation one hour before.  Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the funeral home.
