Obituary

Steven R. Tincher, 67, of rural Roanoke, died peacefully at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

He was born August 27, 1953, in Bedford, Indiana, a son of the late Raymond Tincher, Jr. and Sarah Ann (Underwood) Tincher. He began elementary school in Bedford, then moving to Mitchell, where he attended Mitchell High School.

He began his work career at the stone quarries in southern Indiana, where he developed his passion for heavy equipment. He became a heavy equipment operator for the local union. Moving to Whitley County, he owned and operated Tincher Excavating. With his interest in heavy equipment, he used his knowledge and skill to start a hobby business restoring antique John Deere tractors.

On May 5, 1973, he married Linda Sue Baetzold. They made their home in southeastern Whitley County. Linda died on July 9, 2017. On October 13, 2018, he married Linda Sue Thomson. They have always lived in Whitley County.

With a zeal for work, his day began at sunrise and ended after sunset. Always enjoying the outdoors, he liked to fish, hunt, and camp. He was an avid antique auctions enthusiast, always on the lookout for antique tractor parts, especially John Deere.

Surviving is his wife, Linda; children, Jeremy S. (Chelsea) Tincher of Columbia City, Jacob J. (Lindsay) Tincher of Kendallville, Joshua D. Tincher of Auburn, Jordan M. (Tamela) Tincher of Columbia City and Jennifer E. Yeshua of Edmonds, OK; 21 grandchildren; siblings, Karen Tincher Macleod of Florida, Linda Inman of Bedford and Aaron Tincher of Bedford.

There will be a private funeral service and burial at South Park Annex Cemetery. Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.

Memorials are to the final expenses in care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
