Tamara Sue
Reese
Apr 2, 1960 — Aug 14, 2024
Tamara Sue Reese of South Whitley passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at her home on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024.
Tamara was the daughter of the late David S. Mitchell and Mitzi L. (Juillerat) Mitchell, born on April 2nd, 1960. Tamara grew up in Huntington, Indiana, on a beloved farm. She attended Huntington North High School until she graduated in 1978.
She started her career at Airway, which later became known as Target. There, she was a dedicated employee for over 20 years before working in a doctor's office as a receptionist in South Bend. Later, Tami worked at Gas America and Crossroads Inn after moving to Columbia City.
On September 20th, 2013, Tami married her husband, Kent E. Reese of South Whitley. Together, they lived on a beloved farm, where Tami got to relive the joys of growing up on a farm again. Tami could always be seen enjoying gardening, walking every morning, attending Bible studies, swimming in her spa, taking her four-wheeler through the fields, riding her motorcycle, and caring for any animal that wandered onto the farm- even letting most have a forever home with her.
Due to her love of water, Tami volunteered at the Columbia City YMCA, helping teach third-graders how to swim. She could also be seen in the summer volunteering in the kitchen at The Hill Top during the Whitley County 4-H fair.
With her absolute love of life and the Lord, Tami was a stranger to no one and will be deeply missed, but we are glad that she is with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Surviving is husband Kent E. Reese and daughter Brianna Reeves of South Whitley, nephew Jason (Karissa) Mitchell of Columbia City, brother Kent Mitchell of Fort Wayne, niece Adele (Jeremy) Thompson of North Carolina, a stepdaughter Kristi (Jeff) Helvie of Columbia City and two step-grandchildren Micah and Mayci Helvie.
There will be a celebration of life service at Collamer Christian Church (South Whitley), where Tami was a member, on Wednesday, August 28th. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am, with the celebration of life service starting at 11 am. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
If you would like to make a donation in her name, donations can either be made to the Collamer Christian Church or the Humane Society of Whitley County.
