Teresa Dawn Hammonds , 54, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

She was born on November 23, 1970, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy J. (Seate) Carpenter.  Growing up near Pembroke, NC, she graduated from West Robeson High School in 1989.  She continued her education at Richmond Community College, earning a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

On May 29, 1992, she married Timmy Hammonds.  They made their home in Maxton, NC.  In 2021, they moved to West Valley, UT, and in 2024, to Columbia City.

She had worked for Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC until she became disabled.

Teresa loved to fish and travel throughout North Carolina from the mountains to the beaches.  She had visited the Grand Canyon of Arizona on her many road trips.  She enjoyed baking and is remembered for her sourdough bread, pies, and cakes.  An avid reader, she liked romance novels and crime stories.

Surviving is her husband, Timmy Hammonds of Columbia City; a son Dylan Hammonds; a sister Kimberly (Eric) Morris of Maxton, NC; nieces, Kaitlyn Morris of Maxton, NC and Sarah (John) Locklear of Shannon, NC; a nephew, Stewart (Kelsey) Morris of Maxton, NC and a great-nephew, Caysen Morris.

Teresa desired to have no services.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
