Obituary

Thelma M. Chapman, 101, of Columbia City, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Millers of Oak Pointe, where she had resided since 2015.

Born August 25, 1918, in Delaware County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Evert Emerson and Prema Bell (Davis) Armstrong. She attended Gaston High School.

Thelma worked for Essex Wire in Ligonier and retired after 13 years of service at Wolf Lake Products.

A loving and caring mother, she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed a card game of penuckle or canasta. Throughout her adult life, she liked watching IU Basketball, cheering on the team through the season.

She is survived by her son Donald (Phyllis) Chapman of Albion; her daughter-in-law, Linda Chapman; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one great-great-grandson.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Chapman and Richard A. Chapman; brothers, William Armstrong and George Armstrong and a sister, Arnetta Falkenstein.

The funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation from noon until the service. Burial is at the Thorn Cemetery in Ormas.

Memorials in Thelma's honor are to Wolf Lake Baptist Church.
