Thomas Arnold Trier, 70, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family.

Born on November 14, 1954, in Columbia City, Indiana, he was the son of the late Vernon E. and Mary Elizabeth (Grant) Trier.  Growing up in the Columbia City area he attended Marshall Elementary and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1973.  He then attended Indiana University in Bloomington to continue his education.

On August 25, 1984 he was united in marriage to Leanna Marie Loe.  They have always made their home in Columbia City.

Tom started his work career at Jerry for Men clothing store, and in 1979 until 2011 formed Trier Automotive and Goose Lake Resort.  He then worked at Toyota in Warsaw, finishing his career at Rhoades Automotive in 2020.

Tom enjoyed playing golf, eating Mexican food and older cars.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, The Elks and was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 41 years, Leanna; children, Derek Thomas (Brittany) Trier of Columbia City, and Anna Marie (Tanner) Taulbee of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Connor Week, Jadyn Taulbee, Makaylah Trier, Henry Trier and Tatum Taulbee; sister, Kathy (James) Heur of Columbia City; brother, Grant (Kathy "Patricia") Trier of Clearwater, FL, and sister, Carolyn Trier of Columbia City.

As per Tom's wishes there will be no services.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials in Tom's honor are to Grace Lutheran Church.
