Todd Dwight
Johnson
Apr 22, 1957 — May 21, 2021
Todd Dwight Johnson, 64, of rural Columbia City, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home late Friday evening, May 21, 2021.
Born April 22, 1957, at Luckey Hospital in Wolf Lake, Indiana, Todd was a son of James Leonard and Anna Marie (Deeter) Johnson. He grew up in Etna-Troy Twp. and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1975. A talented athlete, he went on to try out for the Cincinnati Reds.
On the 8th of September, 1979, Todd was married to Kimberly Miller. They made their home in Columbia City and raised a son. Kimberly passed away in March of 1994.
Todd worked at Club Olympia, Essex, and gave 30 years to Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne before retiring in 2008.
He enjoyed golfing and bowling, participating in the local leagues through the years. An avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan through good and bad, he followed them closely and would attend their games in Cleveland whenever possible. He was a true Hoosier through and through, always telling stories of Bob Knight and how IU would be great again, but to everyone's dismay, he was a huge Terry Bradshaw fan his whole life!
In recent years, Todd spent the majority of his time at home and outside with his family.
Surviving are his son, Tyler (Savanna) Johnson of Columbia City; his mother, Anna Johnson of Columbia City; two grandchildren, Mahala and Sebastian Johnson; a brother Brent D. Johnson of Columbia City; and a sister Jaima M. (Rex) Musselman of Noblesville.
He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Johnson, and his wife, Kimberly L. Johnson.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with a funeral service at 7 p.m.
Memorials in Todd's honor are to the Whitley County Community Foundation.
