Vickie Lynn Krom, 74, of Columbia City, died peacefully in the company of her loved ones at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, in her home.
Born on September 13, 1951, in Shelbyville, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Leslie J. and Alley W. (Coulter) Dile. Growing up in Pierceton, she graduated from Pierceton High School in 1969.
Vickie lived most of her life in Whitley County, where she and her husband of 20 years raised their daughter, Billie. After their divorce, they remained good friends. Later she moved to Auburn and then in 2015 she purchased a home in Columbia City.
Vickie dedicated 20 years to working as a factory inspector for Ultra in Columbia City, retiring in 2025.
Vickie loved to have a good time, and enjoyed dancing and listening to music, especially Elvis. At home, she loved floating and sunbathing in her pool. She was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed classic movies and once in a while a good horror movie.
Vickie and her daughter remained very close, and in 2007, she was blessed by twin grandchildren, Cloie and Zack who she adored.
Vickie is survived by her daughter, Billie Jo (John) Ulrey of Ligonier, Indiana; granddaughter, Cloie Alley Ulrey of Ligonier; sisters, Peggy Laturner of Sidney, Ohio, and Joanie (Bruce) Foreman of Pierceton, Indiana; brother, Tony Dile of Columbia City, and several close nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Zack Ulrey.
Visitation will be from 10 to 2 p.m. Saturday (Sept 5th) with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City. Burial is at Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.
Preferred memorials in Vickie’s honor are to the family for her Granddaughter (Cloie) college fund.
