Virgil Alan Bradford, 60, of Fort Wayne, died at 1:08 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born September 3, 1960, in Orange County, California, a son of Virgil Earl and Martha Alice (Black) Bradford. As an infant, the family moved to Indiana, where they grew up in the Albany area and graduated from Delta High School in Muncie. Continuing his education at IUPU-Indianapolis, he earned a bachelor's degree in Public Health Administration.

Working for the Indiana Department of Labor, he was an OSHA Inspector for 25 ½ years. After retiring, he became a self-employed Safety and Health consultant traveling throughout the U.S.

On September 2, 1995, he married Roberta J. Cokl Puckett. They made their home in Muncie. For the past five years, they have resided in Fort Wayne.

An avid Chicago Bears fan, he followed their games throughout the season. An Indycar race fan, he annually watched the Indianapolis 500 personally attending many of the races. Relaxing around the home, he liked listening to music and was partial to classical music. Adoring his grandchildren, he regularly attended their school activities.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta, sons, Tim Shook, and Ryan Puckett of Commiskey; daughters, Renee (Jeff) Schwartz of Fort Wayne and Robert (Jessica Collyer) Puckett of Commiskey; his mother, Martha Alice Bradford of West Lafayette; grandchildren, Reina Puckett, Richard Puckett, Emily Shook, Reagan Schwartz Molly Schwartz, and Emalyn Collyer; brothers, Frank (Becki) Bradford of Indianapolis and Robby (Tracy) Bradford of West Lafayette and nephews, Jack, Xander, Bradford, and Noah Bradford.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Earl Bradford, and a grandson, David Robert Schwartz.

The funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2020, at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial is at the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials are to the Central Lutheran School, New Haven, or Hope for Animals, Fort Wayne.
