Virginia L. Watson, 94, formerly of Indianapolis, died peacefully at Miller's at Oak Pointe, Columbia City, at 1:12 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021, where she had been a resident since October.

Born April 14, 1927, in Marion County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Henry William and Kathleen Ann (Hickman) Scheidt. Growing up in Indianapolis, she completed elementary school at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, Indianapolis, and graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School, Indianapolis, in 1945.

On April 11, 1947, she married Lowell "Hank" M. Watson. They made their home in Indianapolis. Lowell died in 1997. In 2007 Virginia moved to Greenfield and in 2019 to Tri-Lakes, Columbia City.

She was a full-time homemaker raising four children. As an Indianapolis native, she and her husband enjoyed the annual Indianapolis 500 festivities and, of course, the race.

Surviving are her children Michael L. (Kandis) Watson of Greenfield, William R. Watson of Franklin, Diana (Rodger) Mullen of Frisco, TX and Debra (Paul) Bennett of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother Bob Scheidt and an infant daughter Kathleen A. Watson.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Entombment is at the Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis. Visitation is one hour before the Mass at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
