Walter A. Ruse, 73, of rural South Whitley, died unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday, September 12, 2021 at his home

Born on April 20, 1948, in Huntington, Indiana, he was a son of the late Alfonso and Cloris (Krider) Ruse.  Growing up in the South Whitley area, he graduated from South Whitley High School.

On April 4, 1968, he married Beverly Elaine Breedlove.  They made their home in Pierceton until they moved to Collamer in 1972. Beverly died on November 12, 2014.

He was employed by Warsaw Electro Polishing.

A car enthusiast, he like to attend the area car shows.  He was partial to the 1930s era hot rods and enjoyed the early 1960s Chevrolets. In his spare time, he would make woodcrafts that he shared with his family and friends.

Surviving are his children, Shanna (Dan) Johnston of Columbia City, Tammy (Gary) Syndram of Warsaw, Jennifer Ruse of Columbia City and James Ruse of South Whitley; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Larry Ruse; and a half sister, Joanna Lutes.

The funeral service is 3 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.  Burial is in the South Whitley Cemetery.  Visitation is 1 p.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
