Wilma J. Lynn , 93, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:05 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Stillwater Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

Born on January 14, 1931, in Clay, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Marshall D. and Margaret (Williams) Hill. Growing up in Clay, she attended Clay High School.

On August 20, 1948, she married Calvin D. Lynn. They made their first home in Evansville.  As her husband worked in the construction trade, they moved around, eventually locating in the Indianapolis area. Calvin died on May 17, 1998.  In 2008, Wilma moved to Columbia City to be closer to family.

A full-time homemaker raising the couple's son, she had also sold Avon products.  After moving to Columbia City, she became a member of the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene.

Through the years, she enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables.  She is remembered as a good cook, especially for her fried eggplant. Milk was the most important drink, and with her southern upbringing, grits were a staple.  She used her cooking skills to minister to others at the church, preparing funeral dinners.  Always remembering others on their birthday and holidays, she skillfully navigated the postal delivery schedule to have the card arrive on the special day.

Surviving is her son, Michael E (Brenda) Lynn of Columbia City; grandchildren, Tammy (Michael) Murphy of Indianapolis, Todd (Jamie) Williams of Westfield, Chad (Stephanie) Lynn of Indianapolis, and Stacy (Todd) Geiger of Columbia City; 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Sandra) Hill of Wetumpka, AL.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Hill, and a sister, Virginia Haner.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with a funeral service at 7 p.m.  Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Stilesville Cemetery, East North Street, Stilesville, 46180.
